KSW14: Judgement Day


Today at the press conference Polish biggest promotion KSW announced their next big show KSW14: Judgement Day. On September, 18 in Atlas Arena, Lodz we will see a ton of interesting fights including freak show with 5 time world’s strongest man champion Mariusz Pudzianowski (2-1) vs. Eric Butterbean Esch (12-7-1). In the main event of the evening, Polish #1 light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz (10-2) will face former Bellator fighter Daniel Tabera (16-2-3) in the light heavyweight tournament final. In the following bouts, we will see KSW veteran Krzysztof Kulak (23-12-2) facing one of the best Polish grapplers Daniel Dowda (5-3). Apart from that, Polish kick-boxing veteran Przemysław Saleta (0-1) will fight with boxer Marcin Najman (0-1). Those two gentlemen truly hate each other and will try to settle their private business in the ring. What’s more, a very interesting lightweight torunament is shaping up. As mmarocks.pl reports, already announced fighters are: KSW Team member Maciej Gorski (8-4), hungry and dangerous Artur Sowinski (8-3), talented Michal Mankiewicz (4-0), top european lightweight Niko Puhakka (18-10), former UFC fighter Per Eklund (15-4-1) and Japanese Sengoku fighter Kazuki Tokudome (5-1-1). Two more participants will be announced later.

Polish heavyweight division, with two big names in the business Michał Kita (10-4) and Damian Grabowski (12-0), has never looked so good. Lately however, it is Grabowski who seems to be standing out a bit more. By defeating Michał Kita at Beast of The East 2 he is now ranked as #1 heavyweight in Poland and #6 in Europe.
His last two wins over Michał Kita and Dion Staring (Grabowski defeated him twice via armbar) and his phenomenal record of 12 and no losses gave him an opportunity to fight in Bellator heavyweight tournament where he will face Scott Barrett (10-1) in the first round.

Michal Fijalka (6-1) after his loss, if we can call it a loss, with Hans Stringer (16-4-1) at Beast of the East 2 is still a top light heavyweight in Poland. The fight ended up with a technical submission. We know it was a mistake because as it turned out, kimura that Stringer had locked didn’t make a big impression on Michal. His frustration after the fight was caused by the referee’s decision to stop the fight. It is his first loss in MMA. Below, a short interview we did with Michal just after the fight.
